Life updates and randomness.

Lots of things have been going on with me.
August 15th I went into the ER with a kidneystone in my right kidney.
A week later, when it finally had passed, I went back to the ER with a much worse one in my left kidney. Went home with a friend, and had to be brought in again the next morning. A couple days of constant pain along with full body muscle spasms, and a lot of involuntary screaming later, a urologist came in and pulled out the stone (which was the size of the eraser on a pencil) and another that was behind it. Put in a stent to let another one pass, and told us I had two more growing in EACH kidney, and that I was a "stone maker"
Went back to my friends place, at some point got the stent taken out, and I'm barely back to walking almost normal, though I get worn out past the point of walking if I move around too much (a walk around a grocery store will do it), sore (i re-fractured a lot of my ribs because of the full body spasms) and I still randomly fall asleep. I only remember a few days of the past couple weeks. But I'm slowly going back to "normal"  lots more doctor visits to come!

All together (without the four new ones) I've passed 6 stones this year. I'm 23. This is beyond not cool.

So far the stone makeup is mostly Oxalate, which as far as I can tell... is not something I eat much of...

More of my stuff got destroyed in the big waterheater flood of '13 than previously thought. I'm still going through the remains. My costuming and vintage clothing collection is down to probably 6 garbage bags including coats and regular clothing. =/ Nearly all of my books are gone. (so glad I keep the majority of my "important" ones in my room) All of my Marvel collectors pogs (in their original packs) are gone, as are my regular pogs and nearly all my trading cards (MTG, pokemon, yu-gi-oh!, harry potter, evil ernie, digimon, sailor moon, among others...).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trying to figure out how to pay my doctors bills as they come, gonna try and start up an etsy probably. (still waiting to see what my towns policies on it are. Stupid town site is always down, and they rarely reply to emails so I have to figure out when I can go in.)
Spent all my dogsitting/housesitting cash so far for bills, so i've been working on cheap commissions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``````

Other than all of that, i'm working on a goal-list of things I want to finish such as my anthology of re-told fairytales (and find a publisher), finish my corset covers, ect.

In august I got a new tattoo
My boyfriend bought it for me <3 nbsp="" p="">
I designed it myself specifically for me, on my inner ankle. It didn't even have to be edited or re-sized. Im so happy! It includes two characters from "My Neighbor Totoro" and the goblin boomps from "Little Nemo's Adventures in Slumberland" Both of which are movies that I literally ran the tapes out on when I was little. (my parents had to replace them a couple times from the local video store)
I got it done at StudioX Tattoo in Vancouver, WA. I think they did a pretty good job =)
This one (like my other) proved that i'm a freak, seeing as it didn't hurt at all. =)

Earlier in the year I went to Sakuracon, and these were my costumes:
(Princess) Sailor Uranus
Misty

Luna Noa

As always, I made my own costumes =) Hope I can go next year!

Ill update more as I think of it. Bear with me =)

Starting over. A very unhappy new year so far.

It's been a while since I've updated this blog. A lot has gone on since my last post.
I figure I should start up my blog again.

Today did not start out as a good day. Early this morning I woke up (1am) an hour after I had fallen asleep. I had the worst impending sense of dread ever. Bad enough that I immediately messaged my friend in Korea to tell him to be careful. I also got up and checked on my family (I still live with my parents) and pets. All of them were okay.
I get woken up by my mother this morning (7:23am), casually telling me "Later on today, you should help me move stuff to the other side of the garage." What? What stuff? What was going on? Turns out that the water heater had sprung a major leak sometime during the night and had soaked everything in its path. That everything was all of MY possessions that my family has so lovingly moved to that side of the garage over the last two years.
I havn't been able to go through all of it yet. There is a LOT. I know for a fact that most of my paper memories are trash now. (they were so sopping wet that they disinegrated as soon as i picked them up. unreadable). Alot of my vast book collection are going to be trash. Right now i'm going through all my shoes... hoping that it didn't warp them too much. I'm really hoping that it didn't mess up quite as much of my leather pieces as I think it did.
Gone for sure is ALL OF MY PAPER FAERIEWORLDS MEMORABILIA.
I will most likely be posting a long list of my damages later on today. =(

My year has been crap since the beginning. New Years Eve, I started passing kidneystone dust. New Years day I began being sick (worst case of the flu i've had in years) I literally didn't eat, and slept for nearly a week. Awake only 2 or so hours a day. The next monday or so? Yeah I stopped being sick, but immediately started my period. (thats always one of those good/bad things. lol) Birthday? Had fun, except I ended up breaking up with my boyfriend. Meanwhile, my sleep schedule has been getting worse and worse. (I had been only getting a few hours of sleep a nice since around since mom came back from colorado in december) After my birthday it got way worse. (jan. 18th) up for 3 or so days at a time. end of january I mess up my leg. and re-fracture my ribs.
My reaction to pain is generally that it makes me tired. So since then, ive been slightly narcoleptic until last week... back to insomnia. Mostly caused by stress from my family.
And now, just as I feel that I might be getting back into the swing of doing my art... This happens. I just don't know anymore.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~

I'll probably start posting the list of what all is beyond repair tonight.

Also, as I read books... I'll start doing reviews of them again.

I really liked this. It was refreshing to read a "comic book" that was so... earthy? Life like. I could see this actually being someones' life. I would love to have this on my bookshelf sometime.

Its the story of Jewish twin sisters, and what dramatic turns their lives take. Takes place around 1910, but goes farther into the past and future. A VERY good read, though I could see this book being slightly controversial considering it deals with abortion, birth control, burlesque, and prostitution.

I highly recommend this book!

~*~*~*~*~*~

A very simplistic book meant for middle school aged students. I did like that the majority of it was actual responses from Holocaust survivors, describing how life had been before and how it turned. Also, some great photos to tie it in. I understand that because of the audience, it isn't too graphic (those are the ones I prefer, the ones that go into the nitty gritty of what actually happened in camps) but this was well written and put together. I especially liked the section that talked about how the concentration camps are almost prettified today (I recall one survivor seeing grass at a camp after they were open to the public, and her response that "if there had been grass, we would have eaten it" That image is the one that is going to stick with me from this book.)
Not was I was looking for, but a good read.

UPDATES

So, Ive been gone.
Partially because I had to pass a kidney stone, partially because I keep forgetting I have a blog.
Anywho, time to start this baby back up!

I will (If I dont forget to load them here) have pictures of my Jareth belt and pendant (along with 3 glitter balls a friend got me) up tomarrow. I painted them. Theyre now more metalic looking... I made them out of sculpy last year... but I figured I better fix up my costume for this year since i'll be Jareth on day 2 of Faerieworlds 2010.
I re-found my pants, gotta re-find my boots, I combed out Jareth (my wig), mums washing my cape.... cuz it smells slightly of... herbs.
I'm thinking of making clear strings to attach it at my wrists so that it just doesnt hang there sadly.
As for the shirt, I actually found a good pattern a while back, and so I may re-do it (taking the cuffs off the old shirt and putting them on the new one because they were a pain in the ass to make.)
I also "brought in" my vest, so it fits me better... tomarrow Twyla and I are going to rig the collar so it actually STAYS standing this time. =D
I'm hoping that I can find someone who can make me a nice shoulder armor thing for me (plastic or otherwise) or else i'll be using my lame craft foam one I made last year. =P
Also, my riding crop ran away... i've gotta go find him. =/

Pirate:
I re-found my vinyl leggings, gotta find my vinyl boots, I'm working on the coat (maybe pics tomarrow?), I've gotta make some black lace wristlets, my black lace collar/cravat is on its way from Canada, and my corset should be comming soon. My hipscarf and matching headscarf are safely tucked away, as is the all important hat. =D

Merrow:
THE TOP IS FINISHED!!!!!!
Its got the straps, its got the beading, its got the scallop shells, and iridecent sequins. YAY!!!!
I've gotta figure out how to string sequins because I wanna dangle some from my swishy arm pieces....
I ordered the metalic silver leggings... but they havn't arrived yet.... =( I hope they didnt get lost in the mail.
The fishnets will be ordered this month I believe.
I've got my earfins (and im selling custom pairs of earfins, $20 including shipping) though i've still gotta make more jewelry....
I've got my webbing... (i'm gonna web my fingers) and most of my makeup.
I've got just about everything I need to build my skirt... I just gotta get around to doing it. I've also gotta find my hairfalls. =/ If I have time i'm gonna make an octo-purse. muahaha.

I've got my ticket, and twyla has hers (we're inner circle camping), apparently my artstudent is STILL comming with us. hes lucky i wasnt able to sell his ticket yet.
We're slowly getting our food saved up (chips, candy, stuff that wont go bad) and saving up for fast food. hmmm

I know im probably forgetting a lot of stuff... but i'll probably remember more tomarrow =)
Until then,
Cheers!

I'm SOOOO fu(k!n9 smart!!!!

SOOOOoooo... reason #1 why I shouldn't wake up early in the morning???? Because I am prone to doing stupid sh!t when my brain isn't functioning properly!!!

Example:
I was just working on my mermaid top which I had to tighten because I apperently lost weight around my upper ribcage. I put it on, noticed the tops of the cups were tilting inward because of the shells being flat and not rounded enough, and so I figured "if I cut notches into the top above the shells, it'll relieve the tension". So, I went looking for scissors. Finding a LACK of scissors (I had THREE pair just yesterday. people keep jacking my scissors.) I found the next best thing. A small stainless steel knife with a micro serrated edge. So LEAVING THE SHELL BRA ON I start sawing at it. (you'd think that this is what gets me into trouble but its not.) I notice one of the notches isnt sawing through.... so I start sawing harder/faster... only to move my hand and realize i'd started to saw through my thumbnail. One or two more back and forth motions and it would have hit flesh.

The top however is fine, and is in working order now... cept i still need to find my clear elastic so that I can make straps.... and keep on beading. Sooo....much....beading......

Pirate coat re-think. Corset.

So, I started working more on my pirate coat today. (to debuet at Faerieworlds 2010) Instead of silver for the lapels i'm using black velvet. I am then going to paint (using metalic silver) on them using a stencil I created today. =) Heres what the stencil looks like:

So every time you see silver "spray" on the design that is where a stencil will be. in the oval i might paint something individual... or maybe fill it in with red sequins/beads/rhinestones. dunno yet.

The piping (all the orange) is going to be metalic copper fabric. The yellow circles are going to be large old metal buttons (probably mismatched. =D)

It will be quite stately when i'm done with it methinks.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I'm working on a trade for my corset so far. =)

Its going to be a black victorian overbust. I shall be trading two sets of custom wristlets and a pair of custom earfins if it all goes well. =D (I'm soooo excited!!!!!)

~*~*~*~*~*~

Today Twyla came over and we worked on her tophat for her steampunk costume. oh so pretty! Handpainted some ribbon metalic coppery colors.

More updates to come soon!!!!

Hummingbirds. and a note about butterflies.

So, today I was sitting outside with my friend Twyla. Zen was going back and forth making happy darth vader sounds. (Zen is my kitty. His full name is Aezenreial... but we call him Zen-zen. When he's happy he sounds like darth vader. He does not purr. Never has.) He was also trying to steal Twyla's shiny stuff she brought to show me. (He is attracted to shinies... hes a kitty pirate. he steals shinies, and when he knows its yours and hears you enter the room, he will sit on it and pretend its not missing.)

There are two hummingbird feeders out front. We were watching the one little female watch us, and then go and get some "necter" (we've got at least 4 females and 2 males that frequent them) She zoomed right up, sat on the rosebush and looked at us... then made angry noises every time she came back. lol
Me with my feline instincts... (twyla has wolf-like instincts... i apparently act like a cat.) wanted to jump, flail, and make noise every time the bird flew up... i do this to birds. i like to chase em... I figured it would be best not to because it would have a heart attack... just too tiny you know?
Then a thought struck me. What if a hummingbird got angry?
It could potentially zoom up, stick its beak in my eye and taste my brain. OMG. dont mess with the hummingbirds.
(yes, I realize this is VERY unlikely.... but still.)
Which brings me up to the subject... I am scared of butterlies and moths. Their mouthparts freak me out. I KNOW THEY WONT HURT ME.... but they freak me out.
Theyre fine and dandy as pictures and jewelry, and fluttering around... BUT NOT ON ME. I think one of the worst possible things that could happen would be to stick me in that butterfly exhibit at the zoo.
Plus... THEY TASTE YOU WITH THEIR FEET. not right.

This is me in my orange hat and red trench. standard kylie.
